Town of Middlebury
Middlebury is a diverse community of approximately 8.500 permanent residents. It is
comprised of 38 square miles located in the west central part of Vermont. Middlebury is

Department for Children and Families, employment and welfare offices. It is also the
center for education, business and industry in this part of the state. The Town has a
village center where most services, retail, housing and industry are located. The
remainder of the community is made up of scattered housing developments,
agricultural land and the village of East Middlebury.
The community has two colleges - the 2,200+ student Middlebury College and the
Community College of Vermont. There are three public schools in Middlebury - An
elementary school with over 500 students, a regional middle school with 800+ students
and a regional high school and vocational school with 1000 students. There are three
private elementary schools - the Bridge School, Aurora School and St. Mary's Parochial
School. The area is visited year-round by tourists from all over the United States and
